Intruder Stop: Secure a Classroom Door in Under a Second
When a lockdown starts, every second counts. Intruder Stop was built around that fact: a door lock that anyone can deploy instantly, without searching for parts, fumbling with hardware or bending down.
How it works
Intruder Stop mounts at the base of the door and stays ready at all times. Inside, a spring-loaded ball holds the device in place, so it's ready to deploy at a moment's notice.
In a school, the process is as simple as it gets. The teacher closes the door and steps on the device. That's it. The door is secured in under a second.
Because it's activated by foot, staff never have to bend down or reach for a separate piece. It's completely self-contained and installs with standard tools.
Strong, simple and affordable
Intruder Stop is solid metal and built to hold. It's also very inexpensive compared to other door security devices, which makes it realistic to outfit every classroom in a building, not just a few.
A school version built with law enforcement in mind
The device shown in the video is the home version. The school version looks slightly different and adds an important capability: law enforcement can enter from outside when they need to.
For security reasons, the school version and its entry tool aren't shown in videos or photos. Each entry tool is serial numbered, so every one is accounted for across the country.
Made 100% in North Carolina
Intruder Stop was developed by Amy Rankin, an elementary school principal, and David Rankin, a manufacturing and safety engineer. It's made 100% in North Carolina.
