SŌK does not simply sting. On contact it forces the eyes closed, and a person who cannot open their eyes cannot continue what they were doing. That involuntary eye closure is the difference between an irritant and something that actually stops a threat, and it is the reason SŌK works the way it does.

No. Pepper and OC sprays work through respiratory irritants such as ammonia and the capsaicin class of compounds. SŌK contains no respiratory irritants at all. It is water-based, and it is not classified as a pepper spray or an assault spray.

Lift the safety, press down. That is the whole thing. The actuator works the way you would expect a spray to work, so there is nothing to learn under pressure and no special training required.

The 7 oz uses an orange thumb trigger rather than a finger trigger, which gives you a firmer grip and more control at range.

A cloth and water. No decontamination process, no shower protocol, no medical response required for the spray itself.

Compare that to pepper spray, where cleanup and recovery are a process in their own right.

SŌK is water-based, so there is no fire risk if a subject is tased while the spray is present. That is a real concern with alcohol-based and solvent-based sprays.

To be clear, SŌK is still a less-than-lethal tool, and anyone who has been tased needs EMS regardless of what else was used.

Only if you want to carry it on a belt or a bag strap rather than loose in a pocket or a console. The clip versions are the same can and the same formula, so it comes down to how you plan to carry it.

It is also why handlers can use it. There is no spray-back, so it affects only what it hits directly and not the dog working next to you.
